Graham Keane, the creative force behind the acclaimed progressive metal project The Vicious Head Society, returns with his third studio album, Call of the Void — a stark, deeply personal exploration of identity, struggle, and renewal.
Departing from the sweeping societal themes of his earlier work, Keane turns inward, tracing the defining moments that have shaped him within the fading embers of a personal cycle. Call of the Void confronts the slow, corrosive pull of losing one’s purpose, capturing the tension between resistance and surrender with unflinching honesty.
While the album preserves the project’s signature blend of technical precision and soaring melody, Keane channels a heavier emotional weight into the music. The result is a sonic landscape that mirrors the arduous path of self‑discovery — turbulent, atmospheric, and relentlessly human. Listeners are invited to confront their own recurring cycles and find meaning in the darkness.
Musically, the album reaffirms Keane’s reputation as an Irish guitar virtuoso. Complex, intricate arrangements intertwine with crushing heaviness and moments of stark beauty, forming a dynamic palette that showcases both his compositional ambition and his unmistakable guitar voice. Every passage reflects the grit and resolve of an artist pushing through the darkness toward clarity.
Call of the Void stands as a powerful statement from a musician at the height of his creative powers, further solidifying The Vicious Head Society’s place in the modern progressive metal scene.

For Graham Keane, the creative force behind the progressive metal project The Vicious Head Society, music has never been about trends, algorithms, or mass appeal. It has always been an internal imperative — a need to create.
That drive began with a single, electrifying moment: seeing Eddie Van Halen perform as a young boy. The spark of that experience, combined with the influence of his older brothers — both deeply immersed in progressive music — set Keane on a lifelong path of exploration. Growing up surrounded by complex arrangements and unconventional structures, he didn’t just learn to play guitar; he learned to think in scales, time signatures, and narrative arcs.
Despite his technical command, Keane’s philosophy has always been clear: the song comes first. Emotion comes first. “I’m always pushing to become a better writer rather than just a faster guitar player,” he says. His evolution as an artist is defined by a relentless desire to expand his harmonic vocabulary and deepen the emotional resonance of his work.
The Vicious Head Society transformed from a creative outlet into something essential after a profound personal turning point. Witnessing his wife’s courageous battle with cancer forced a confrontation with mortality and the finite nature of time. In that moment, music became more than passion — it became purpose.
“We’re all on a page, mortality‑wise,” Keane reflects. “It made me realize I needed to do something meaningful with my existence — to put my best foot forward and share something that reflects the human experience we all share.”
Whether performing for ten people or ten thousand, Keane is driven by that same need: to create something honest, something meaningful, something that stands as his contribution to the shared human story. The Vicious Head Society is built on that foundation — integrity, passion, and the unwavering belief that the music must be made.
